Raiding the Rock Vault 2014 Las vegas

Raiding the Rock Vault opened its metal doors, for the first time on March 9th 2013. The Vegas rock scene came out in droves to a stellar Red Carpet a week later on March 18th, with all the talented stars of the show who consist of Howard Leese, who was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 (Heart), John Payne (Asia), Tracii Guns (LA Guns),Andrew Freeman (Lynch Mob), Robin McAuley (MSG), Jay Shellen (Hurricane), Paul Shortino (Quiet Riot), and Michael T Ross( Lita Ford). These eight multi talented musicians were hand-picked by John Payne, Sir Harry Cowell (Producer) and David Kershembaum (Director) who all took the idea of compiling the “World’s Greatest Set List” and melding it into a Rock show with a real Rock Star cover band!
Throughout 2013, the shows stay at the LVH Showroom, which by the way was on the very stage that Elvis used to perform back in the 70’s, many guest singers came in to perform 2-3 of their own songs from their own hit albums from the past. They Started with Bobby Kimball (Toto), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow), Mickey Thomas (Starship), Jon Anderson (Yes) and ended with a bang and a whole choir for Lou Gramm (Foreigner). There were a couple of singers that stood in for a few of the guys when they had a break, Oni Logan (Lynch Mob) and Mark Boals (Royal Hunt). Howard had to take a couple of breaks and Jason Boyleston from the Paul Rodgers Band would fill his very large shoes.
The show had a spectacular following the entire year especially with locals, and we waited with baited breath to see if the show would be picked up for another year by The LVH. After a short hiatus of about a month we got the news that the show would indeed be picked back up where it left off , but to the dismay of fans of the show, without our dear Tracii Guns and dancer Megan Kinney. Then we had to wait for the announcement on who would replace one of the biggest characters of the show.
Right before the show was to start rehearsing we got the big news that Doug Aldrich from Whitesnake would be filling Tracii’s humongous shoes and that really excited the fans of the show. Also to be added would be a female singer. The surprise was that it would be our own local friend and kick ass singer, Carol Lyn Liddle, who has been rocking the Vegas rock scene for many years. The first female singer in a totally male fronted show! The dancer that filled the shoes of beautiful Megan Kinney is Sarah Jessica, who isn’t Megan, but she is great in her own way.
The show started back up on Jan 24th 2014. After the hiatus there were a few musical changes as Carol Lyn sang “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mack, “Heartbreaker”, by Pat Benatar and “Alone”,by Heart. When Stephanie Calvert is on hiatus from Starship she will be singing with RTRV as well. The other change is no more “Run to You” by Brian Adams and way more AC/DC, which to me is a great change! I think the changes make the show flow a bit better and it’s good to have a female to break up the testosterone of the show. It was just great to see the guys that we know and love back on that stage, and it’s amazing to see Carol Lyn up there doing what she is meant to do. Sing her ass off. It’s also great to see Doug Aldrich tearing it up on guitar. He is a nice addition to the already fantastic show.
I will be back to see Raiding the Rock Vault many more times this year as it is the BEST show in Las Vegas!!!
