Black Label Society @ Brooklyn Bowl 6/5/14

Black Label Society Brooklyn Bowl 6/6/14
By Michael Taylor
Black Label Society came to one of Las Vegas’ newest venues at the Linq and blew the roof off. Even before Black Label Society got on stage, a BLS banner was raised up and the crowd began chanting BLS. The Las Vegas chapter, as well as many members from out of town were more than ready for the show to start. BLS and SDMF (Strength, Determination, Merciless, Forever) tattoos and leather was in full effect everywhere you looked.
Zakk Wylde is an absolute beast on stage, showing off with close to a ten minute solo and seeming to never stop playing, even during short water breaks. He even ended the show with a primal chest thumping, showing that he could have gone a few more rounds. Many jaws had to be picked up off the floor at the end of the night when Zakk was finally done playing. When they played “In This River” with Zakk on piano and Las Vegas’ own, Dario Lorina on lead guitar, two large pictures of Dimebag Darrell came down and the crowd knew this was a special moment and cheered accordingly. After the song, Dario got a huge cheer and round of applause from his home town crowd.
Dario is already making a name for himself, coming from Lizzy Borden to join Black Label Society earlier this year, and his will be a career to follow. Las Vegas certainly showed him lots of love while he was on stage whether he was playing lead or rhythm guitar. And he certainly showed off his skills when he was given the chance to play lead guitar or when he was on the piano. Jeff Fabb on drums and John DeServio on bass also got great introductions by Zakk.
The Las Vegas chapter of BLS was certainly treated to an amazing show, by Zakk and company and the Brooklyn Bowl hardly survived. It’s a great new venue that stood the test of leather and SDMF and I hope to see Black Label Society there again as well as many other bands. Can’t beat the strip and heavy metal now can you?
